St Andrew Square terminates George Street at the eastern end. It is home to the headquarters of the Royal Bank of Scotland, found on its eastern side. The square is, of course, named for St Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland, and the first disciple, whose remains were believed to have been brought to Scotland to modern St Andrews in Fife.

The garden at the centre of the square was previously a private garden, but following a multimillion pound refurbishment, it has been opened to the public and is now a communal open space with a coffee shop. At the centre of the garden, the Melville monument sits atop a column and pedestal, in memory of Henry Dundas, the first Viscount Melville.
