St Andrew’s Free Church was built in 1852 to a design by F Anderson Hamilton, to house the new congregation of James Fairburn after the Disruption. After the union, it became Newhaven St Andrew’s, before merging with Newhaven on Forth Church to create Newhaven Parish Church in 1974, when the Pier Place building was sold. It is now in use as an indoor climbing centre.
The image shows Rev James Fairburn, and was first published in Edinburgh Old and New by James Grant.
