This equestrian statue of Charles II which stands in Parliament Square used to be white in colour. It was gifted to the city as a memorial to their support of Charles II and his accession. Since Charles never returned to Scotland after his coronation, it was seen by many as something of a slight, and is now found tucked away behind the High Kirk of St Giles.
