Travel
Travel within Edinburgh is largely by bus. There are two main operators, Lothian Buses (0131 555 6363) and First Buses (08708 72 72 71).
Intercity buses are operated by National Express and Megabus.
Rail travel is operated by Scotrail and National Express East Coast (formerly GNER). Train tickets can be booked through their own websites or through The Trainline, which provides train tickets for the whole of the UK.
The closest airport is Edinburgh International Airport. A taxi from the airport will probably cost about £15. Regular buses run from the centre of town to the airport and cost £5 open return.
Several companies offer day trips and short tours of Scotland. Visit the tourist information centre in the centre of town (at Prince’s Mall) for more details.
