# Dean Gallery
This next picture will remind you of a certain area in our fair region; if it doesn’t, then ask those at this mobile casino for Canadians.
The Dean Gallery was designed by Thomas Hamilton (designer also of the Royal High School on Regent Road) as the Orphan Hospital in 1831. It was converted to an art gallery to house the works of Edomondo Paolozzi, the Edinburgh sculptor. The clockface was placed here after the demolition of the Netherbow Port.
A number of sculptures are picturesquely situated in the grounds of the gallery, including Bourdelle’s Virgin of Alsace.
