This building on Charlotte Square was designed by Robert Reid and was St George’s Church, planned to close the end of the New Town along with its opposite number St Andrew’s Church, which was to stand on St Andrew Square on the site of the house of Sir Lawrence Dundas, now the headquarters of the Royal Bank of Scotland. St George’s Church has been known as West Register House since 1964.
