Waterloo Place

Waterloo Place is, of course, named for the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, which was just a few years before the street was built to a design by Archibald Elliott and a plan by Robert Adam. The battle was a famous victory for the English, commanded by the Duke of Wellington, whose statue can be found just a few metres away outside Register House.
