Rintoul Place was named for David Rintoul, one of the seven masons who were the first subscribers to the company. He was the first chairman of the Cooperative, and lived on Reid Terrace. Rintoul Place was amongst the first constructed of the Stockbridge Colonies and was complete by 1865.
