The Old Royal High School on Regent Road was designed by Thomas Hamilton, designer of the Dean Gallery. The building was once considered for the new home of the Scottish Parliament.
The Royal high School had formerly been in High School Yards at the end of Informary Street, and is now found in Barnton.
Honest Will to Heaven's away
And mony shall lament him;
His fau'ts they a' in Latin lay,
In English nane e'er kent them.
Robert Burns
