This Freemason's Lodge was opened on the corner of St Anthony Place and St Anthony Lane in Leith in 1888. This area was part of the old Preceptory of St Anthony, which has Templar associations. The Lodge was designed by George Craig, a member of the Masons and also an important Leith architact, who learned his trade from R Rowand Anderson and James Simpson, succeeding the latter as architect for Leith School Board.
