Golfers Land

Golfer's Land was a Royal Mile tenement built by Bailie John Paterson, which in popular memory was funded by the winnings of a golf match in which he was partnered with the Duke of York, later James VII. It was demolished to make place for the 1960's development by Sir Basil Spence, in which Jenny Ha's pub may now be found.

The image shows the old Golfer's Land tenement. It was originally published in Memorials of Edinburgh in the Olden Time by Daniel Wilson, published in two volumes in 1848.
