Fettes College was opened in 1860’s, funded by a bequest by William Fettes, grocer and twice Lord Provost of Edinburgh, who lived at 11 Charlotte Square. It is operated by the Fettes Trust, who once owned a considerable part of the city, at the former Comely Bank estate. It is famously the school where Tony Blair went.
The image shows Fettes College, and was first published in Edinburgh Old and New by James Grant.
