The plaque on the Cowgate near Blackfriars Street remembers the house of Cardinal Beaton which used to stand nearby.
The image on the left shows Cardinal Beaton's House. It was originally published in Memorials of Edinburgh in the Olden Time by Daniel Wilson in 1848.
